Senior Java Developer

SUMMARY: A Senior Java Developer is responsible for the analysis, design, development, maintenance and support of software applications.

EXPERIENCE: 5 years of Java development experience with an understanding of XML, SOAP, UDDI, J2EE, .Net, WS-Security, SOA Governance, Web Services Management tools, and Object Oriented Programming. 2+ years of BEA Aqualogic (or Weblogic) ESB/Enterprise Service Bus (Quicksilver) is also a plus. Development of Service WSDL's and XSD's. ESB Proxy WSDL's, providing stubbed services as needed during development. Build/Configuration Management/Initial Setup experience is a plus. Demonstrated teamwork skills with a solid analytical and statistical background. Excellent organizational, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Application Development: Performs the following activities: requirements definition for medium-large sized enhancements, design, development, testing and implementation. Gains necessary input/approval of requirements and design and participates in code reviews and may perform code review for others. Ensures applications meet requirements and has few bugs; develops system and user documentation. Researches solutions, develops alternatives and make recommendations.

Production Support: Supports the operations of existing applications. When on call, provides timely response and resolution of emergency production questions, issues and defects while adhering to a production support process.

Application Maintenance: Works on periodic maintenance releases of applications, including enhancements and defects and may identify design improvements.

Business Alignment: Involves users in the development/maintenance of applications (e.g., requirements, testing) and understands how users use their applications.

Managing Employees: Coaches less experienced teammates and creates documentation to aid in others' learning. If applicable, provides supervision and ensures quality and timeliness of others' deliverables.

Managing Work: Understands scope, priority and timelines for assigned work. Manages workload to deliver quality deliverables that meet requirement. Communicates status of assignments to supervisor and notifies supervisor of issues that impact productivity or ability to meet expectations. Adheres to CSF processes in completing assignments and follows standards/uses standard toolsets. Assists manager in tracking progress, prioritizing work, developing time estimates and work plans and assisting less experienced team members. Resolves issues or escalates to manager, if necessary. Identifies opportunities to improve existing conditions and processes & implements solutions; is creative in problem solving and checks work in central repositories.

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent related experience.
